Importance of Alexa Ranking Improvement

Why would an Alexa Ranking be important to me? And is it important to both a Marketer and an Advertiser?

I have watched this site go from about a six million (6,000,000) ranking to six hundred thousand (600,000) and back to two million (2,000,000) just based on how often I post. For those of you that are new to Alexa Rankings, the lower the number the better. The current top 10 list as of this post is:

  1. Yahoo.com
  2. Msn.com
  3. Google.com
  4. Youtube.com
  5. Live.com
  6. Myspace.com
  7. Orkut.com
  8. Baidu.com
  9. Wikipedia.com
  10. Facebook.com

The lower (better) your ranking the more likely you can ask for higher advertising dollars on your website.

    Everyone says “Alexa is not accurate, it doesn’t matter.”

    Well, once you talk to advertisers, it matters quite a bit!

    Accuracy or not, try to get a good CPA company to accept your with an Alexa rank around 6 million and they laugh at you.

    How about using Adbrite to monetize your page… Lower Alexa numbers means you can command better cost per month or click for ads as a publisher.
