Microsoft is Buying Yahoo?

I’m either late to the party, or it really doesn’t matter. Are you a news junkie? If you are accustomed to getting your daily 5,000 forms of e-mail, fax, RSS, telephone, television and other forms of news; then you know what the title of this post means.

So you say, Sam… You’re late to the party, Yahoo said yes, no or too low… It doesn’t really matter either way. “Resistance is Futile.” (Sorry I harken back to my days of Star Trek and the Borg/Microsoft.)

Does that news really affect you? Probably not. If this doesn’t affect you, then other news probably won’t affect you either. We all have 1,440 minutes in everyday (that’s also 86,400 seconds in the day). Don’t waste them. Focus on the activities that will give you the most future value.

Will Microsoft prevail? Will some other newsgroup buy Yahoo? We shall see.

Don’t waste time,
Sam Carrara

Opps I Goofed

A few days ago I had two different posts about Customer Service and Wendy’s. I was checking my error logs and saw that alot of people were not finding the pages because of the link was wierd. Let me show you how they looked and how to fix them:

Post Titles and Links:
Customer Service- Wendy’s

Customer Service- Wendy’s

Customer Service- Wendy’s 2
http://www.samcarrara.com/marketing/customer-service-wendy%e2%80%99s-2/

The first one looks fine, but the second looks like awful. For some reason the ‘ threw off the permalink. So what I need to do is change the post’s permalink. In the wordpress admin area I would use this box “Post Slug”:

Post Slug

So instead of having customer-service-wendy%e2%80%99s-2, I would put customer-service-wendys-2. That looks nicer and hopefully will stop errors. So now the link is:

http://www.samcarrara.com/marketing/customer-service-wendys-2/

The other way to fix this is to do it using phpmyadmin directly accessing your database. Use the method above, it’s easier.

How do I run into so many errors? I am taking action and getting things done. You could never have errors, but that means that everything needs to perfect and take months of review. Have errors, they are great learning experiences.

Committed to Win

Today is Valentine’s Day. Have you decided what to get for that special someone? Flowers, dinner, movies, etc.

What are your commitments? Are you really committed? Here is a short list of my commitments:

  • God
  • Family (Wife & kids)
  • Work
  • Business

Notice I didn’t put TV on the list… It has been on an unofficial list before. How much time and energy does it suck out of your life? The same can be said of many other activities- Is bowling more important than the limited amount of time you have with your kids?

Are you committed, Committed to Win? If you are, get serious, take Action. Start with this list:

  • Write down your goals (debt free, more time with family, etc.).
  • Assign dates to complete these by.
  • Define how you will accomplish these tasks (Start a blog, create information products, sell unused items on Ebay, etc.).
  • Break down tasks into subtasks to see accomplishment as you complete each subtask.
  • Take action on this list.
  • About a month out re-evaluate your goals (are they important) and have you been working on the tasks to get to these goals?

We are Mobile

We Are Mobile, are You? Can people look at your blog from a mobile phone and not have to scroll left and right? To reach a wider audience, you want to be available by RSS, computer, mobile phone and Mars Transmission (well maybe not Mars Transmission).

It’s pretty easy to do. Check out the plug-in Alex king put together at: http://alexking.org/projects/wordpress/readme?project=wordpress-mobile-edition

Customer Service- Wendy’s 2

Well, I got a call back about my customer service experience at Wendy’s. You can see the initial experience here: http://www.samcarrara.com/marketing/customer-service-wendys/

Just a quick update on the call:
A girl from one of the local franchise owned offices called. Most owners/companies own a region or state of Wendy’s. First she asked if this was a good time to talk (great question to ask). Next she thanked me for letting them know what happened. We talked a little about what happened and then discussed about different sizes of chili for the combos. I said that I would expect to pay more for a large chili as opposed to a small chili.

She thanked me again for my time and customer service report. All in all she portrayed good customer service.

Customer Service Counts,
